Apple Cross Section Sensory Tray
Apple Cross Section Sensory Tray
Explore • Fill • Sort • Discover
Take a closer look inside an apple with our Apple Cross Section Sensory Tray — a hands-on learning resource that combines sensory exploration, nature learning and open-ended play.
Designed to represent the inside of an apple, the tray features recognizable details including the outer skin, core, seeds and stem. Children can fill the different areas with sensory materials, loose parts, playdough, pom-poms or other manipulatives as they explore what makes up this familiar fruit.
Pair it with a real apple for an engaging apple investigation, use it as part of a fall sensory bin, or create sorting, counting and fine motor activities.
Perfect For
• Apple anatomy and parts-of-a-fruit learning
• Sensory bins and sensory play
• Loose-parts exploration
• Sorting and classifying
• Counting and early math activities
• Fine motor development
• Fall, harvest and orchard themes
• Nature-inspired learning invitations
• Preschool, kindergarten, homeschool and therapy settings
Learning Through Play
Cut open a real apple and invite children to compare what they see with their sensory tray. Count the seeds, identify the different parts, fill the sections with coordinating materials or create an apple-themed sensory invitation.
The open-ended design allows children to see, touch and explore what they are learning while encouraging curiosity, creativity and hands-on discovery.

Children should always be supervised during play. Wash hands thoroughly before and after use to maintain cleanliness and product longevity.
Storage:
Keep sensory materials in a sealed, dry container, away from moisture and direct sunlight, to help preserve freshness and colour.

Sizing Guild
We offer a variety of sizes to suit different play setups:
- Mini
(1 cup): Perfect for small tinker trays or tabletop play. - Small
(3 cups): Fits comfortably in the small IKEA Trofast bin. - Large
(5 cups): Ideal for the large Trofast bin or larger play trays. - Extra Large
(15 cups): Ideal for classroom setups or large Tuff Trays.
Each material fills containers differently — for example, rice and chickpeas take up space differently than pasta or lentils.
Please note that colour tones may vary slightly between batches, as each mix is hand-dyed using acrylic paint.
Wooden Collection Care
An Important Note About Wooden Toys: Wood is a natural material and as such, has various unique markings. Variations in wood grain, color, knots, texture or dye transfer are all natural occurrences in these hand-stained wooden products. These unique variations and markings are proof of quality, not defects. Wooden toys often have a distict odor to them, this is all natural.
Cleaning note: Wooden Toys should not be submerged in water in order to clean then. This will cause them to damage. To maintain the quality of the product, please wipe clean with natural cleaning agents only.
